Hello all!
The days are getting longer, the temperature is warming up, and that means that our curling season is coming to an end. As you all likely know by now, we have opted to keep the ice in for a few extra weeks this year, owing to the fact that we have a rental booked later this month. Hopefully everyone will have a chance to enjoy the various programing that our coordinators have taken time to organise!
With the conclusion of the curling season, our annual trophy night and AGM is right around the corner. Please join us the evening of May 14th for a prime rib dinner catered by Prestige catering, great music, and the presentation of awards to wrap up our year! Tickets can be purchased for $50 at the bar or by contacting Jen Fraser (613-868-8950; jen.fraser@xplornet.ca) no later than May 8th, and include two drink tokens for the evening. We will also be electing our board of directors for the next season, so if you are interested in joining the dynamic team of volunteers that keeps this place going, let Duncan Ferguson know (613-362-9114; duncan.ferguson20@gmail.com).
We will also be making the draw for the raffle table on the 14th. If you haven’t had a chance to see the fantastic spread of items that our team has assembled over the year, take a look at the table set up in the lounge the next time you’re at the club. Tickets are $5 each, and you can put as many tickets as you wish in the box for any item. Some items are proving to be very popular, so the more tickets you buy, the greater your chance of winning! The volunteer of the year award will also be presented at the same time, so if you haven’t already please fill out a ballot at the bar.
Finally, I would like to thank each and everyone of you for another successful season. It goes without saying that we have faced numerous challenges along the way the last two years, but I am confident in saying that our organisation is still in good shape and recovering nicely. That’s not to say that we are out of the woods yet – we are still below pre-pandemic membership levels and face rising costs relating to our operation. Hopefully you will tell your friends how much fun you have here at the club and encourage them to give curling a try!
