It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a long outstanding member of the Alexandria Curling Club, Marie Laure Ménard-Noseworthy. Marie-Laure was last active in the 2018-2019 curling season and the longest active member ever at our club for 63 years. She was inducted in the Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame in 2012 for her involvement and passion for curling.
Peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Glengarry Memorial Hospital on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Mrs. Marie Laure Ménard Noseworthy of Alexandria; just shy of her 103rd birthday. Beloved wife of the late Aimé Ménard and in second wedding to the late Donald ‘Bud’ Noseworthy. Predeceased by her parents Olivier et Albertine Crevier (nee Poirier), and her siblings Jeannette Crevier, Berthe Séguin (late Claude), Jean-Paul Crevier (late Rita), twins Cécile and Lucille, René, Elias and Laurent Crevier (Noëlla). Marie Laure was a second mother to Monique, André, Suzanne and Denise. She will be sadly missed by many special nieces and nephews.
Marie Laure was a Canadian pioneer being the first woman in 1968 to own and operate a Massey Ferguson dealership known as Ménard Farm Supplies Ltd., in Green Valley. Inducted into the Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame in 2012 for her involvement and passion with curling.
Funeral arrangements under the care of Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main Street South, Alexandria (613 525-2772). A private mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. We would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Marleau, Dr. Ross, nurses and staff at Glengarry Memorial Hospital and Chateau Glengarry for their caring devotion.
